Rotate-o-Matic is a term used to describe toy robots that have a spinning upper torso motion. Usually this motion is co-ordinated with guns (or laser cannons) firing from the toy’s chest area. Often this weaponry is hidden behind doors that burst open as the rotating action commences. Most rotate-o-matic robots follow a set repeating pattern: walk, stop, chest doors open, torso spins with ‘rat-at-at’ sounds and flashing lights, chest doors close, walk and repeat. This action is also called ‘Swivel-O-Matic’.
